CHEMICAL FREE DISINFECTION AND CHLORINATION
In-situ Chemical free Chlorination

The Hydro-dis® treatment is twin treatment integrated modular design allowing easy scale-up as demand increases over time. The first stage is electrolytic converting water molecules into Hydroxyl radicals, a powerful oxidizer that kills Bacteria, Viruses and Algae. The second stage is electro-catalytic producing a free chlorine residual from the chloride ions naturally present in the water. This free chlorine residual protects the treated water and pipework downstream after treatment.
The innovative Hydro-dis® treatment process is a powerful simultaneous oxidation, disinfection with in-situ chlorine generation capability.

BENEFITS OF HYDRO-DIS
Fully automated – requires only routine checking and servicing.
No need to store chemicals on site.
Significantly reduces water discharge in evaporative applications compared with chemical dosing.
Maintains set chlorine levels.
Cost effective operation and maintenance programs ensure that you are able to meet your triple bottom line performance requirements.
Self-cleaning – longer service life and reduced operating/running costs.
Tends pH to neutral – reducing the need/ cost for pH correction chemicals (if applicable).
Only calibration of ancilliary analysers is required.
No need to transport chemicals around the country.
Solar/in-situ/wind powered options – for rural and isolated applications.
Easy integration of the cell into existing water circuits and the electronic control into existing management systems.
YOU DON'T NEED TO TRANSPORT OR USE THESE ANYMORE WITH HYDRO-DIS®
SELF CLEANING TECHNOLOGY
The Hydro-dis® system can be fully automated and includes telemetry, significantly reducing the requirement for onsite operator input. This is achieved through controlled reversing of the polarity of the applied cell voltage to constantly clean the active components within the cell. This increases the operational efficiency of the system by reducing the need for onsite cell cleaning by an operator particularly in areas with high calcium hardness in the feed water.
HOW WE DO IT
We achieve this by conducting a detailed site specific analysis and matching the revolutionary Hydro-dis ® water disinfection system to individual requirements, allowing Hydro-dis ® to reduce or eliminate water treatment chemicals dependent upon the application. Due to the way the Hydro-dis® system is controlled, the disinfection of reclaimed water occurs so that much needed nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus etc.) are not destroyed by the disinfection system, which often happens with chemical dosing systems.
SYSTEM DESIGN
The first stage is to obtain detailed site data that includes a comprehensive feed water analysis, process flow rates, final treated water quality requirements, treated water storage and distribution details and proposed power supply with regard to being on or off grid. We then use our extensive computer design software to design the most appropriate system based on the requirements of the client and prepare a project cost estimate. The Hydro-dis® technology is easily integrated into existing water circuits including site automation such as SCADA, resulting in minimal down time and disruption particularly during retro-fitting.
TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW
-
Reduced service requirements resulting from scale control by the use of the unique Hydro-dis® polarity reversal technology.
-
Excellent performance in low TDS feed water (as low as 50mg/L) as the latest Generation 4 cell design operates at between 12 and 48VDC incorporating a uni-polar design. This design provides a more electrically active surface area increasing performance in low TDS water while not compromising the electrical efficiency of the system. This gives the system the flexibility to effectively process water with changing water quality – particularly relevant for seasonal water quality variations.
-
The Hydro-dis® system is controlled and operated in such a way that the disinfection of reclaimed water occurs whilst retaining much needed nutrients (nitrogen and phosphorus etc.). Chemical dosing systems that use choline as a primary disinfectant often destroy or convert nutrients and other minerals in the water to potentially harmful chlorinated by-products by the disinfection process.
-
The Generation 4 cell design has significantly reduced the pressure drop across the cell while increasing the flow rate when compared to the previous cell designs. This reduces pumping power requirements and therefore overall treatment cost.
-
Very compact cell design allowing a smaller footprint for the same plate area as that used in previous Hydro-dis® cell designs allowing for greater design and operational efficiency.
-
The new Generation 4 cells utilise the primarily the same controller electronics as previous cell designs, allowing retro-fitting of the Generation 4 cell into existing installations by the addition of a Polarity Reversing Module.
-
All new installations include a stand-alone control box with power supply, analyser inputs, process automation using a PLC and telemetry (if required) or when retro-fitting, Hydro-dis can supply the necessary componentry including the cell(s) to allow incorporation of the Hydro-dis® control equipment and functions into existing site infrastructure.
