New Year – New Direction

We are well into 2017, both the Lunar New Year and Chinese or Solar New Year have been celebrated. A lot has happened since the end of December and I have a lot of news to share with you – hence this new format.

Major Milestone – AS4020 Accreditation

On the 3rd February 2017 we received the formal notice advising that the Hydro-dis® technology has achieved the requirements for compliance with the Australian Standard 4020:2005 Testing of Products for use in Contact with Drinking Water.

This means that our system can now be implemented in any drinking water application in Australia and qualifies the Hydro-dis technology for the Australian Water Mark.

The accreditation is recognised within the water industry as one of the highest certifications that can be achieved and will stand us in good stead against the German DVGWW270, the US NFS/ANSI61 and the British Standard.

It’s particularly important not just for our domestic growth, but in meeting the requirements of the increasing number of enquiries we are receiving from potential overseas interests.

Internationalisation of Hydro-dis

During the past six months the Hydro-dis management team has been actively involved in pursuing international customers at the same time as growing the Australian market and undertaking an ongoing R&D program.

We are very pleased to report that there has been strong interest in the Hydro-dis technology, particularly from India and China, with many other countries also on our potential customer list. To facilitate our entry into the China market we have recently set up a company in Hong Kong called Hydro-dis (International) Ltd.

The Hydro-dis technology is seen as being particularly well-suited to applications in India and that is the current spearhead of our international development campaign. SA’s sister-state relationship with Rajasthan is proving particularly useful and we acknowledge the active support of the SA Government through the Department of State Development, and the Water Industry Association, in assisting us through ‘opening doors’ and in many other ways.

In recognition of the growing importance of the international market to our business future we are fine tuning our marketing approach in some subtle ways, including adopting the strapline ‘a better way’ to all our new materials – including this newsletter.

Iron and Manganese Removal Project

We have received formal confirmation that the Horrocks Water Treatment Plant Upgrade incorporating the Hydro-dis® technology had been awarded to Guidera O’Connor, a SA based company who provide “design and construction services to the Australian Water Industry”. We are pleased to be working with Guidera O’Connor and have already spent many hours developing the P&ID and GA documents. This project is due for completion by the end of May 2017.

Philippines Association of Water Districts Presentation – Davao Philippines

On the 1st February 2017 our Chief Technical Officer, Rob Richardson, presented the Hydro-dis technology to over 100 members of the Philippines Association of Water Districts (PAWD) http://pawd.org.ph/. The PAWD is the peak body for all the water authorities in the Philippines. They had engaged Isle Utilities www.isleutilities.com to facilitate five presentations on key problem areas faced by the Water Districts as part of the Water Technology Summit being facilitated by Isle Utilities.
Our presentation was focused on the Hydro-dis technology’s ability to improve the efficiency of iron and manganese removal from ground water. Of the 600 Water Districts in the Philippines, 75% have problems with iron and manganese contamination in their source water.

As a result of the presentation and subsequent round table discussion with the CEO’s and Chief Engineers of a number of Water Districts, we have received strong interest for two trials which will be used as demonstration sites. We have some water analysis data and are awaiting completion of our questionnaire so we can develop the appropriate trial proposals.

It was a fantastic opportunity to again partner with Isle Utilities (following our involvement in Isle’s Innovation and Emerging Technologies Pavilion at the World Water Congress in Brisbane in October 2016.

Hydro-dis at EXPOs

We have booked a booth at the Australian Water Association’s OZ Water 17 event in Sydney on the 16th to 18th May 2017. If you are attending this event please look us up, booth details to follow in a later newsletter.

We have also been selected to participate in the Isle’s Innovation Pavilion to be held at the IE Expo in Shanghai May 4th to 7th 2017. This is an exciting opportunity for Hydro-dis to present at Asia’s leading trade fair for environmental technologies with over 70,000 attendees predicted!

Hydro-dis in the Media

The above article appeared in The Advertiser Business Section on the 29th December 2016, the article led to a number of new enquiries further expanding the potential of our unique technology.

Stop the Press!

The State Intellectual Property Office of the Peoples Republic of China advised Hydro-dis® on the 22nd of February 2017 that they had Granted our Design Patient Application for our Cell Design. This Design Patient is in addition to the Hydro-dis® Trade Mark granted in late 2016. This recognition further enhances the Intellectual Property Rights held by Hydro-dis® and builds on our reputation as an innovator in water treatment processes.
